Assistance with Daily Life is NDIS support that can help you with everyday activities at home and in your community.
At The Diverse Collective, we provide flexible, person-centred daily living support based on your individual needs, goals, routines and preferences. Our approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed and guided by recovery principles.
We support people with a range of disabilities, including psychosocial, neurological and intellectual disabilities, complex disability support needs and complex behaviours.
What is Assistance with Daily Life?
Assistance with Daily Life is generally provided through the Core Supports section of an NDIS plan. It can help with everyday activities that may be more difficult because of your disability.
The type and amount of support you receive will depend on your individual circumstances, NDIS plan and funding.
Our support workers can work alongside you rather than simply doing things for you. Where appropriate, we can support you to develop skills, build confidence and increase your independence in everyday life.
What Can We Help With?
Depending on your needs and NDIS funding, Assistance with Daily Life may include support with:
- Personal care and everyday routines
- Preparing meals
- Household tasks and maintaining your home
- Shopping and everyday errands
- Attending appointments
- Developing daily living skills
- Establishing and maintaining routines
- Getting ready for the day
- Everyday activities at home and in the community
- Building confidence and independence
Your support should reflect what is important to you. We will speak with you about how you like things done, what you can do independently and where you would like support.
Trauma-Informed and Recovery-Focused Support
We understand that a person’s experiences can affect how they feel, communicate, build trust and engage with support.
Our trauma-informed approach focuses on creating support relationships based on safety, trust, choice, collaboration and respect. We take the time to understand your preferences, communication needs, boundaries and what helps you feel safe and comfortable.
Our supports are also guided by recovery principles. This means recognising your strengths, respecting your choices and supporting you to work towards greater independence and goals that are meaningful to you.
Recovery looks different for everyone. We will not decide what recovery or independence should look like for you. Instead, we will work alongside you and support you to make your own choices about your life.
Support for Complex Disability Needs
The Diverse Collective has experience supporting people who may need a more individualised approach to their daily support.
This includes people with psychosocial, neurological and intellectual disabilities, complex disability support needs and complex behaviours.
Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis, we consider the whole person. This includes your strengths, goals, routines, environment, communication preferences and the other supports in your life.
Where appropriate and with your consent, we can also work alongside your family, nominee, Support Coordinator and other people you choose to involve in your supports.
Your Support, Your Way
You have the right to be involved in decisions about your supports.
Before your services begin, we will speak with you about what support you need, when you need it, your routines and preferences, your goals and what good support looks like to you.
Your needs may also change over time. If they do, we can speak with you about your supports and whether changes may be needed.
Our goal is to provide support that helps you have greater choice and control in your everyday life while building on your existing strengths and abilities.
