This page brings together practical NDIS disability support information for participants, families, carers and referrers. It is a starting point for questions about supports, providers, referrals and your rights. It is not personal NDIS, legal or financial advice; for current decisions about your plan or funding, use official NDIS information or seek advice that is right for your circumstances.
Choosing a provider
Choosing a provider is an important decision. You can ask what services are offered, whether they are available in your area, how the team will communicate with you and what happens if your needs or plans change. It can also help to consider your goals, routines, preferences and accessibility requirements. Our guide to choosing an NDIS provider includes questions you can take to an initial conversation.
Understanding everyday and home supports
NDIS supports can look different for every person. The Diverse Collective provides Assistance with Daily Life, Social and Community Participation, Supported Independent Living (SIL), Short-Term Accommodation (STA) and Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA). However, suitability, funding and availability depend on individual circumstances. Our SIL, STA and MTA guide explains the difference between these arrangements in plain language.
Preparing for a referral or enquiry
You do not need every detail before you contact a provider. It can be helpful to know the service you are seeking, the area where support is needed and the person’s preferred way of communicating. Our Preparing for a Referral guide explains what information may be useful. When you are ready, you can use the referral form or speak with our friendly team.
Your rights, feedback and trusted information
You have the right to be treated with respect, to make choices about your supports and to raise feedback or concerns. Read about participant rights and advocacy and our feedback and complaints process. For current official information, visit the NDIS website and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
